Our Rooms

Our nursery rooms: baby, toddler and more

Our nursery rooms at The Charlbury Railway Children are flexible depending on your child’s development.
All of our classrooms are created to make an enabling environment both inside and out, and this offers the children a wide variety of early learning experiences and opportunities to help them explore and investigate.
We use all the prime and specific areas of learning from the Early Years' Foundation Stage guidance to help plan for each individual child, to help promote their development on a regular basis.
Each of our children have an individual learning plan that is created by their key person. This will run alongside the term's topic and will provide specific activities and experiences designed around the child's interests to promote their individual development. Baby room

Our baby room caters for up to 12 babies aged between 6 months and up to 20/24 months. The room is bright, spacious and full of carefully chosen equipment for a wide range of activities to stimulate the children whilst in our care. We have separate areas for mealtimes / messy play and nappy changing, as well as a dedicated sleep room. Our activities are planned to develop the children’s fine and gross motor skills, and to stimulate their social, emotional and intellectual development.

Toddler rooms

Our Toddler Room caters for up to 12 children aged from around 20 months to 36 month olds. The Toddlers have a simple structure to their day, with a wide range of activities on offer to stimulate the children which cover all the areas of development. We work closely with our parents to give the children lots of help and re-assurance when they start toilet training making it as easy as possible for all concerned.

Pre-school rooms

Our Pre-School Room caters for children aged 3 years to school entry age. The Pre-school room is spacious and arranged into the seven areas of learning so the children can learn while still having fun. Pre-school have their separate outside area which they can access throughout the day. Those Pre-school children who will go up to primary school as part of the next intake are given an opportunity to get involved in activities specifically designed to help prepare them for school and develop the skills they will need. This will include early numeracy and literacy, practising fine motor skills e.g. writing and developing language skills through songs, games and discussions, with each child encouraged to develop at their own pace.

Our garden

All of our children get to go outside in all weathers to be able to challenge themselves with their friends, so we ask all parents to provide them with suitable outdoor clothing. Our garden is set up so that the children can take safe but calculated risks within their play. They can enjoy investigating and exploring in the sandpit and the water areas. They enjoy riding around the garden in the cars and bikes.

Pre-school garden

Our Pre-School children have their own little garden that they can have free flow from our main classroom all throughout the day. This gives them the freedom to learn through play and to be able to investigate their learning in different ways.
